| This is a map that shows Tilman's 1949 trip into the Langtang region. I've overlaid our trekking route. It was several years after our trek that I read about Tilman's travels and exploits. I'm sorry that I didn't read it earlier, since I would have liked to look for specific features described by Tilman. One thing that I've noticed about maps of the Himalaya - they are quite often inconsistent and inacurrate. I have several books and maps that disagree about the placement and altitude of villages, mountains, and routes. And quite often, all of them disagree with reality. Also, the spelling of many names is variable. The best course, is to have a Sherpa who knows the trails. |
