| Great Egret. The Salton Sea is a premiere area for bird watching. Even though I was here in January, which is not exactly the prime bird watching season, I saw a good assorment of shore birds. This Great Egret (also referred to as the American Egret) was hanging out in the shrubbery at the edge of the lake. |

| Great Blue Heron. From my experience, great blue herons are fairly shy birds. This fellow was no exception - any attempt to approach closer, and he would fly off. Eventually, I just sat down, drank my beer, and he eventually came within camera range. |
