Great Egret. The Salton Sea is a premiere area for bird watching. Even though I was here in January, which is not exactly the prime bird watching season, I saw a good assorment of shore birds. This Great Egret (also referred to as the American Egret) was hanging out in the shrubbery at the edge of the lake.
Great Blue Heron. From my experience, great blue herons are fairly shy birds. This fellow was no exception - any attempt to approach closer, and he would fly off. Eventually, I just sat down, drank my beer, and he eventually came within camera range.
Sunset. A nice ending to a pleasant day.
