Death Valley National Park. Death Valley National Park would take a lifetime to fully explore, including not only Death Valley, but also the Eureka Valley and Saline Valley, as well as other bits and pieces. | |
Salton Sea. Located an hour or two east of San Diego, the Salton Sea is a large saline lake that is saltier than the ocean. Formed many years ago, due to a slight accident of hydrologic engineering, its been here ever since. Each year it gets a bit saltier. There are various plans to reduce the salinity, but since the lake contains enough salt to build a small mountain, I wouldn't bet much on the success of these plans. |
